Useful Web Sites
Stockopedia - an excellent site for investors and one which I use all the time to help me with my investing. It does require a subscription but well worth it.
John Mauldin - another really useful site with many free e-mails like Thought from the front line and Things that make you go hmm, also some paid content.
The Market Oracle - Worth signing up for the free e-mail from Nadeem Walayat whose occasional posts are very good if a little controversial at times. Plus lots of other views on markets and other related topics.
Investegate - a particularly useful site for keeping track of news on your stocks via e-mails & different segments of the market too.

Free Stuff
For Investing
Try these Free Books - How to make Money In Value Stock and How to make money in dividend stocks. if you like I would recommend you try a free trial subscription to Stockopedia to help you see if you like it and implement some of the ideas covered in these books.

GNU Cash - is personal and small-business financial-accounting software, freely licensed under the GNU GPL and available for GNU/Linux, BSD, Solaris, Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows. Designed to be easy to use, yet powerful and flexible, GnuCash allows you to track bank accounts, stocks, income and expenses. As quick and intuitive to use as a checkbook register, it is based on professional accounting principles to ensure balanced books and accurate reports. I used it to replace MS Money when it was withdrawn and it is similar to Quicken which you can pay for if you want.

Libre Office - Free office Suite an excellent alternative if you don't have or don't want to pay out for Microsoft Office.

Google Finance & Google Drive / Docs. - Useful for setting up portfolio's and then being able to track / monitor them. This also gives the option to link events into an on line or desktop calendar which is handy for keeping abreast of upcoming events.

For Everyday Use
Linux Operating System - got an old PC running XP which has expired and lost its security updates? Don't bin it - bring it back to life with a free new shiny OS such as Ubuntu, or check out all the options at DistroWatch. Also a good alternative if you don't like the look of Windows 10, just buy a box without an OS and put Linux on it and enjoy lots of free software which enables you to do most things. Takes a bit of getting used to but its worth it at the price.

Cash back sites - get Cash back on your everyday spending on line and you'll be a Quid up if you sign up for and use the second quid one.

Free Books - okay old e-books, but doesn't everyone have a smart phone or a tablet these days any way? Or Audio books if you prefer - good for a long journey, in the car or when you are too tired to read. Plus don't forget your local library - mine offers e-books, audio books and magazines for free on line.
